After the successful experience in Bahia and Lisbon, Mídia NINJA announces its new project, the Casa NINJA Amazônia, the Amazon NINJA House. Due to the pandemic of the new Coronavirus, the physical space of the house won’t be opened, but the network will activate an online center of mobilization, training activities, narrative experimentation, creation process focused in the Amazon. The starting point will be given in a virtual event on June 5th and 6th, with a program of debates, conferences and presentations broadcasted and live streamed by Mídia NINJA social media and thematic conferences in online meeting platforms.

Experts, scientists, activists, indigenous leaders, quilombolas, social movements, artists, activists, journalists and interested parties will participate in the activities to defend the forests. The programme includes live conversations and online meetings focusing on the environment, youth, women, climate, agro-ecology, forest peoples, photo, media, LGBT, feminism, technology and others.

The proposal comes at a decisive moment of orchestrated attacks on the Amazon and its peoples. Criminal speeches by representatives of the executive and articulated action in the legislative and judicial branches to make environmental and indigenous legislation more flexible. They try to “pass the bull” to implement a neo-developmentalist agenda without the concern for socio biodiversity, while threatening international agreements once ratified, such as the Paris Agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Casa NINJA Amazônia will function as a digital center that will mobilize hundreds of collaborators for an online network of permanent support of the Amazon, in addition to promoting a continuous program of roundtables of conversations, workshops, meetings and campaigns focused on agendas to combat environmental setbacks, as well as to tell the powers and stories of the deep Amazon.

From reiki to hacker, from indigenous peoples to urban artists; from big cities to deep Brazil to global capitals, the intention of the new Mídia NINJA project is to connect diverse Intelligences and provoke exchanges of experiences, knowledge and distinct social technologies.

The launch, as well as the other activities of the house in this period, will respect the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and ensure the social isolation of those involved, so all programming will be online. We hope that as soon as this period passes and the coronavirus is overcome, we will be able to meet and enable face-to-face activities.

The Mídia NINJA

Free communication network that seeks new ways of producing and distributing information based on new technologies and a collaborative logic of work. We understand democratic communication as a human right and we defend the public interest, cultural diversity and the right to information, spotlighting communication agendas, identity causes, culture, environment, youth and others that dialogue with the challenges of the 21st century.

NINJA Ambiental Network

Articulating thematic networks from its collaborators, Mídia NINJA launched the network of socio-environmental activism that produces content, launches campaigns, promotes debates, mobilizes and organizes resistance struggles and builds narratives on environmental agendas, climate, indigenous peoples, water, territory, food and sustainability for another more collective, inclusive, just, supportive and egalitarian society.
