British Ambassador Peter Wilson said the COP26 Presidency expects the Brazilian government to present a detailed yearly plan to fight and end illegal deforestation in Brazil by 2030. Wilson said he also expects Brazil to set more ambitious goals for reducing greenhouse effect emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n

In April, Bolsonaro committed to reducing carbon emissions and deforestation by 2030. However, no plan has been presented so far. Meanwhile, CO2 emissions have risen 9.5% in 2020 during the pandemic and now represent the highest level of emissions in a period of 14 years<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, the British Ambassador praised the Brazilian energetic matrix for being clean and using ethanol in transportation, which reduces transportation-associated emissions when compared to many other countries.<\/span><\/p>\n
