People’s Summit calls for global and popular mobilization on November 15
The global movement People’s Summit is calling on everyone to join a Global Climate March on November 15, during COP30, in Belém (PA).
The People’s Summit, a global movement that brings together coalitions, collectives, networks, social and popular movements, and civil society organizations from Brazil – founded in 1992 – is now calling for a global climate march to take place on November 15, during COP30, in Belém (PA).
The organization released a manifesto entitled “From the Amazon to the world: Enough Inequality and Environmental Racism, Climate Justice Now!”, which call on people from different cities to fight and build resistance in their territories for systemic change:
“The crisis we face is the result of a system that exploits, threatens, divides and kill us. It is environmental racism that hits black, indigenous and peripheral bodies and territories first and hardest. It is patriarchy that oppresses women and sexual diversities. It is this unjust economic system that increasingly exploits the working class and nature”, says part of the manifesto.
The invitation is for everyone to mobilize in their own territories, transforming indignation into action:
“We know that real solutions lie in the hands of those who build resistance in their territories. That’s why, on november 15, 2025, during COP30, we will take to the streets of Belém and around the world with our voices and our political agenda”, states the Summit’s manifesto.
But what is the People’s Summit, after all?
While COP30 is an official UN (United Nations) event – attended by diplomats, politicians, head of states, and scientists, often in spaces sponsored by corporations – the People’s Summit proposes that the climate debate take place from a popular perspective, with the participation of indigenous people, quilombola communities, riverine population, family farmers, youth and residents of urban peripheries, among others who are often not heard in official decision-making.
The People’s Summit demands:
Living territories and marine territories (maretórios);
Popular and food sovereignty;
Historical reparation and the fight against environmental racism, false solutions and corporate power;
A just, popular and inclusive transition;
Opposition to all forms of oppression, defense of democracy and promotion of the internationalism of peoples;
Fair cities, vibrant urban peripheries and popular feminism with women’s resistance in the territories.
