We, the Council of Wajãpi Villages-APINA, want to disclose a few newest information about the invasion of the Wajãpi Indigenous Land.

Until now, our warriors are following tracks in the forest. But, now, these searches are being done mainly in the region where the Felicio River crosses the 210-Highway, where we saw the latest tracks. We are afraid of the invaders to go out the TIW [Wajãpi Indigenous Land] by that river.

On August 2, 2019, Friday, at the beginning of the morning, two employees of FUNAI who were at Posto Aramirã went to the Jakare village by car. From there, the employers intended to go to Karapijoty village by boat. Soon after, a team of the Pedra Branca do Amapari City Hall arrived by car at Posto Aramirã bringing a coffin. They also continued their trip to Jakare village. Around 9 a.m., the federal police, the technical police [Polícia Técnica], and the Air Tactical Group [Grupo Tático Aéreo-GTA] of the military police arrived.

After that, the GTA helicopter landed at Posto Aramirã. That helicopter had already tried to land in the Karapijoty village, but it did not find the right place, then it had landed in the Mariry village. For this reason, the helicopter moved to the Posto Aramirã to seek for an employee of FUNAI who could correctly indicate the Karapijoty village. Around 4 p.m., the helicopter came back to the Posto Aramirã.

According to information that we received from FUNAI; the experts who went by helicopter did the autopsy in the Karapijoty village. They did not take the body of the chief Emyra to Macapa. We learned that the autopsy lasted approximately three hours. And that the test result will be ready as soon as possible, but it can take until thirty days. Also, we learned that the teams of the federal police and the GTA would remain in Pedra Branca do Amapari. So, they could perform an overflight in the morning of Saturday, August 3, flying over 20 km around the Mariry village.

On August 2, we received at Posto Aramirã a group from the Manilha village. They brought some images that they made the day before (August 1). They registered several tracks near their village. The images are very good; for this reason, we decided to disclose them.

Also, on August 2, some representatives of the Wajãpi organizations went to Macapa to talk with the federal prosecutor, Alexandre Guimarães. They told the prosecutor that the invaders remain in the Wajãpi Indigenous Land. Also, they asked for the support of the federal prosecutor. They asked the prosecutor to dialogue with bodies which can help us to locate the invaders and put them in jail. We remain worried because the tracks followed by our warriors show that the invaders are getting closer to leave the Wajãpi Indigenous Land.

On August 3, Saturday, the GTA helicopter landed again at Posto Aramirã. The officers met with the employees of FUNAI and, after, they talked with the directors of our organizations. They said that they flew over the region of the villages Mariry, Tomepokwarã, Kumakary, until the area of Pairakae village, and they did not see anything abnormal.
